But today I woke up with a renewed spirit and veg-itude (that's an attitude full of veggie power) and I knew we were going to hit a new milestone.
For the last while Jemma has been starting her mornings with a sippy of Nancy's Kefir. The probiotics have really helped her digestion (AKA less dramatic poos). She's enjoyed peach, blueberry, and strawberry so far. Yesterday I picked up blackberry - something she has yet to try, but with the strong flavor I figured it would be a good place to start my experiment. And, lo and behold (proof is in the picture) Miss Jemma took to her modified kefir like a champ.
Here's what I did ...
JEMMA'S FABULOUS GREEN SMOOTHIE
Ingredients
1/4 cup blackberry kefir
1/4 cup unsweetened coconut milk
1/3 large banana
15(ish) spinach leaves
Directions
Place everything in blender and blend to a puree. Jemma's favorite sippy cup can't take much chunks which is why I added some coconut milk to thin it out and blended like crazy. Pour into your littles favorite cup and watch them slurp up their veggies!
Have you tried green/healthy smoothies for your little ones? I'd love some more recipes to try out - please share!

avacado+banana+orange juice rocks.
Wow - this sounds amazingly healthy! Will have to give it a go with Lola. Thanks for sharing x
ugh, Ethan is rejecting veggies too! I will have to try this out :) thanks!
my 12 month old loves this smoothie:
Unsweetened almond milk
Trader joes chocolate hemp protein powder
Flax seed
Chopped frozen spinach or frozen peas
Banana
I dont know specific amounts of each ingredient because my husband makes the "shake". And he just eyeballs it.
But she seriously loves it.
We LOVE green smoothies around here. We go by a method I found a while back where you add a thickening fruit (e.g. bananas, mango, apple), a flavor fruit (e.g. pineapple, strawberries, orange), spinach (literally 3-4 cups) and ice. Since I have a Vitamix, we don't need to add any sort of liquid, but in a normal blender you might need to. Peanut has always loved these, even when she's going through an anti-veggie stage, which, by the way, will pass! It seems like Peanut is constantly going through a stage of absolutely hating one food or absolutely loving another food.
My daughter drinks about 6 oz a day of Bolthouse Farms Green Goodness to help get her veggies in!http://bolthouse.com/our-products/beverages/smoothies/green-goodness/detail Trust me it taste way better than it looks! My mom also makes Spinach smoothies with fresh spinach leaves, pineapple juice, and a few peppermint drops if you like (I prefer it without the peppermint).
Love it!!!!! We also do the same thing with E its the only way to get her to eat veggies
